Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question about how to use our products, where our ingredients come from, or what makes our skincare so effective? You’re in the right place.
Here are some of the most common things we’re asked — if you still need help, feel free to get in touch.
Is Barefoot Skincare Co organic?
Yes! Our tallow is made from certified organic suet and is 100% pasture-raised.
All of our ingredients are certified organic except:
– Kakadu Plum Oil (wild-harvested, Australia)
– Emu Oil (non-GMO, Australia)
Where do you source your beef tallow?
We source certified organic, 100% pasture-raised suet from Cherry Tree Organics in Victoria. The tallow is rendered in-house on the NSW Central Coast.
Is your skincare raw?
Tallow skincare can’t be classified as "raw" because the rendering process involves gentle cooking. When blending our products, we heat ingredients to 40°C for emulsification and add delicate oils and honey only once the heat is turned off.
What skin conditions can your products help with?
Our products are formulated for all skin types, ages, and concerns. Each one is made with minimal, nutrient-dense ingredients that may support hydration, barrier repair, and inflammation.
What is your packaging made from?
We use dark amber glass for all products except our tallow body lotions, they're packaged in Rpet bottles — all chosen with sustainability and product integrity in mind.
Can I eat your skincare?
Technically... yes! Most of our ingredients are food-grade — with the exception of jojoba oil and black castor oil. But we recommend keeping them on your skin, not your plate!
What essential oils do you use?
We use only steam-distilled, therapeutic-grade essential oils — selected for their purity, potency, and skin benefits.
Is Barefoot Skincare really 100% clean skincare?
Yes! We’re proud to offer truly clean skincare. What you see on the label is exactly what you get — no hidden ingredients, no preservatives. For best results, we recommend using within 12 months of opening.
Can I still use your skincare after 12 months?
Yes, as long as the product has been stored in a cool, dry place and used with clean hands, it should be perfectly fine beyond the 12-month window.
Why does the consistency vary between batches?
We slightly adjust our formulations seasonally — adding more tallow, butters, and waxes in warmer months to prevent melting, and increasing the oil content in cooler months for softness and spreadability. That’s the beauty of 100% natural skincare!
